In Russia, cruelty to animals is recognized offenses, Article 245 of the Penal Code, in that case, if it led to their death or injury to the condition "if the offense is committed of hooliganism, or out of greed, or with a sadistic methods, or in the presence of minors. " Article 245 of the Criminal Code applies to the action to both the domestic and wild animals. Rodent control and pest control are not considered as cruelty to animals in Russia.
